Product update: your Pegasus System safer with 2FA

2FA software

With so much of our personal and professional lives happening on laptops and mobile devices, it’s no wonder our online accounts have become a magnet for cybercriminals. Hacks, data breaches, and other forms of cybercrime against individuals and organisations are more and more common, and there’s no sign that these malicious attacks are slowing down.
While using passwords is better than having no protection at all, they alone are not foolproof – your staff can’t always keep their password safe. It could be stolen through a scam, like phishing, or from another business, they have an account with if they have a data breach.

Why is Important to have 2FA?

One of the best ways to protect your organisation is by having a second form of verification in place. With Two Factor Authentication (2FA), a potential compromise of just one of these factors won’t unlock the account. So, even if a password is stolen or a phone is lost, the chances of someone else having the second-factor information are highly unlikely.

Get 2FA with Pegasus Systems Software

At Pegasus, keeping your data safe is our top priority, so we continuously invest in new tools and features to keep your business information safe.

We recently made 2FA available for use in multiple areas in Edge. Taking advantage of this new feature and enabling 2FA on your database not only strengthens login security it also reduces the risk of data theft.

Login and/or Password Reset

You can enable 2FA for Login (applies to both Edge and Workbook) and/or when using the Forgot password link in Edge. Once enabled, an authentication code will be required to log in and/or use the Forgot password link.

Pegasus Systems- AP Bank Account Changes

AP – Bank Account Changes

We have also implemented the option to use 2FA when changing a supplier bank account. Once enabled, you will be prompted to enter a verification code when editing a bank account where the payment method is EFT. Additionally, you can decide whether to allow authorises to verify their own changes.

Pegasus Systems - AP Generate Payments

AP - Payments

2FA is also available for use when updating or cancelling payments. Once enabled, you will be prompted to enter a verification code when updating or cancelling payment in Automatic Payments, Manual Payments, or Cancel Payments. Again, you can decide whether to allow authorises to verify their changes.

Are you Ready to Enable 2FA on Your Pegasus System?

The 2FA enables any (or all) areas in your database.

Once enabled, the following will apply:

  • Each user and/or authoriser will be prompted to download and set up an Authenticator app (either Google or Microsoft) the first time they log in.

  • An authentication code will be required to use any functions where 2FA is enabled: logging in, using the Forgot password link, changing a bank account and/or updating a payment.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss 2FA in more detail, please get in touch with us, and we will happily help you.
